One of the most important decisions you will make
regarding your wedding reception is hiring your entertainment.
Choosing a DJ can be difficult and confusing. Since many DJs claim
to be “the best,” how can you really know who has
proven themselves, and who still has some work to do? Don’t
take chances with a “friend of a friend” when it comes
to a once in a lifetime event like your wedding. Although people
mean well, a lack of knowledge and ability will not prepare a

We recommend choosing a Wedding Specialist. This
is someone who mainly performs at weddings. A DJ from a club or
school dance may be great, but they may not be the right DJ for
your wedding.
Try meeting with the DJ Company in person, this
will give you more information to make your decision than if you
just spoke on the phone. Make sure that the DJ is a good match
for you, and that you are comfortable with their style. This person
will be representing you at your wedding reception. Check the
background and history of the DJ Company. Do they have references?
If so, call several of them and find out if the DJ did for them,
what they say they will do for you.
Choosing a DJ based solely on price could prove
to be a costly mistake. If the DJ is not a quality fit, but is
the right price, there may be little you can do if they ruin your
special day. You already know what you want for your wedding;
will the DJ you choose provide it for you?

What does a DJ do?
Since the DJ you hire will be responsible for over 80% of the
success of your wedding reception, you should be able to see how
important it is to choose wisely. Another common misconception
is that a DJ is just “the music,” but in reality,
the DJ should be seen as an “Entertainment Director,”
that performs many responsibilities.
Your DJ’s responsibilities include:
- Meeting with the Bride, Groom and Family Members
- Creating the Timeline/Agenda
- Synchronizing your reception with Photographers, Caterer and other vendors
- Programming and Appropriate Timing of music preferences and requests
- Creating a personalized and fun dance environment
- Maintaining a high level of etiquette at all times
- As Master of Ceremonies, further responsibilities include: organizing the wedding party, handling the introductions, making announcements, as well as managing all other formalities and more! Whew!
A smooth wedding reception depends on details and planning. There
are DJs out there that do not comprehend the significance of being
properly prepared. They show up to an event as “just music”

Memories In Motion Wedding Reception Time Commitment
You may have purchased a 5-6 hour wedding package from Memories
In Motion, but in reality, this is how long it takes
us to create your one of a kind celebration.
Personal Conference with Your Entertainment Director:
3-4 Hours
This is where we gather all the details, wants and wishes. From
the entrance of your first guest to the final applause, we will
take care of everything. Our goal is to plan every aspect of your
wedding reception, so that you have time to enjoy your day, stress
free.
Creating the Timeline: 2-3 Hours
Based on our personal conference together, we will create a detailed
agenda making sure that your wishes are turned into reality. We
will coordinate with your venue so that everything begins on time.
We will work with your photographer and videographer so that the
timeless moments are captured on film. Rest assured knowing that
all professionals are working as a team to create your reception,
exactly the way you want it.
The Finalization of Details: 4-8 Hours
Your Entertainment Director will coordinate with the Bride, Groom,
Parents, Grandparents, and anyone providing a toast, blessing
or special family tradition. Once the details have been finalized,
a meeting will be scheduled with the bride and groom to make sure
that nothing has been left out. Contact will be made either by
phone or in person.
Event Preparation: 5-7 Hours
Preparation for your wedding reception begins 5-7 hours prior
to the scheduled start time. Our equipment, as well as our backup
equipment is double checked. The van is loaded, and the props
and specialty items are handpicked and prepared from our inventory.
Our arrival is scheduled 2-3 hours prior to the appearance of
your first guest. All sound, lighting and microphones are setup
and tested so that your guests will hear perfection. We will harmonize
with your venue and vendors to go over the final details, or any
last minute changes to the itinerary. Your dream is orchestrated
into reality when all the performers do their part and then welcome
you, the stars
Event Performance: 5-6 Hours
From the moment your first guest arrives, to the final applause,
we will deliver a lifetime of memories. We are confident that
our music, sound and lighting is of the highest quality. We consistently
manage our 50-point checklist, assuring that you will have the
most unforgettable and fun wedding reception ever.
