Frequently Asked Questions

Are You Available, And Will You Hold My Date?
The first thing that we ask is, when is the date of your wedding? This allows us to check our availability, and refer you to someone else if we are already booked. In the DJ industry, our dates are our “inventory.” Therefore, we can not hold a date without a contract and a retainer. If you need time deciding on which package is best for you, just call and request a retainer contract. A small retainer as low as $300 will hold your date. The most important thing is that you secure your date with us, then we can design a package that is just right for you.

How Much Do You Charge?
MORE THAN A DOLLAR. We have a wide range of prices specific to the type of entertainment package that we will design for you. Our rates are based on our cost of doing business and the value we place on your event. Many vendors will tell you that you shouldn’t skimp on their services, but this is absolutely true when it comes to your DJ Entertainment. A great DJ provides a service far beyond just pushing play. We bear more than 80% of the success of your wedding reception. Believe it or not, I care more about the details of a wedding than some couples do. When it comes to your once-in-a-lifetime celebration, how important is your entertainment to you? If you are shopping for the lowest-priced DJ, ask yourself why they are the lowest? We suggest meeting with us to determine which package would make your reception an unforgettable and fun experience.

How Do I Know If I Am Dealing With A Great DJ?
CHECK THEIR TESTIMONIALS & REFERENCES. We believe in selling ourselves through our clients. The comment: “I am a great DJ,” should never be made by the DJ themselves. Think about it. You can take a DJ’s word of how good they are, but wouldn’t you rather hear it from people who have hired them to perform at their once-in-a-lifetime celebration? Some of our clients will actually allow you to contact them in person. Another way to find out if you are dealing with a great DJ is to ask the hall where your wedding is being held, or ask other vendors (photographer, videographer, etc.); they may be able to give you an unbiased evaluation of a DJ. I personally love what I do, and I still get butterflies before every wedding I perform. It is your special day, do some research and choose wisely.

Do You Use Contracts, And Are You Insured?
YES. For peace of mind, we use written contracts and we are fully insured. We are easy to work with and we conduct our business professionally. However, we never let the rules get in the way of good business. Our focus is on you, your family, and your celebration.

Do You Have A Video Of Your Services?
YES. However, a studio-edited video may not give you an accurate demonstration of a DJ’s abilities. If you really want to make an educated decision, we invite you to come out and see us. We occasionally perform at large venues that are open to the public. Just click on COME SEE US to find out where we’re playing. This is an excellent way to see how we interact with the people, hear the quality of our sound systems, and to experience our light shows firsthand. We would however, not advise you to drop in on one of our weddings. These are private celebrations, and should not be used as a sales presentation.

What Kind Of Music Do You Have?
MANY, MANY SONGS. MEMORIES IN MOTION Music and Entertainment has some of the best music ever collected. At the time of this writing, we are holding over 30,000 songs on compact disc. We subscribe to one of the industry’s best music programming services, the same service that provides music to the top radio stations in the United States. We have spent years researching music, and we are constantly updating our music library with the latest hits, as well as some of the ones that you may have forgotten. All of our versions are clean, and we have songs from every era including Motown, Big Band, Disco, New Wave 80’s, Classical, Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Rock N’ Roll, Top 40, R&B, Urban, Hip Hop, Dance, Club, Techno, Party Classics, Old School, Funk and more! Whew! If you need some help picking out a special song, we will be here to help, but we recommend that you pick your First Dance. That is your moment, and will be for the rest of your lives.

Can We Make Requests?
YES. Most of our clients leave the music selections completely up to us, although a few of them have handed us a song list twice the length of the event itself. The best blend is to give us a list of absolutely “Must Play” songs, and a few of your favorites. This will allow plenty of time for your guest’s requests (if you choose) as well as some other choices made by your DJ. We also suggest a “Do Not Play” list. We understand that there are some songs or types of music that you don’t like or want played, even if your guests request them. These may be sexually suggestive, offensive or just inappropriate for your wedding reception. A good DJ will listen to your music requests and grant every one of them.

What Kind Of Equipment Do You Use?
THE BEST. We are a FULL-TIME Professional DJ Company; therefore, we use only the most reliable, professional and State-Of-The-Art sound and lighting equipment. The brands that we use are the same brands installed in the nation’s top concert and club venues. When our reputation is on the line, we count on our equipment to deliver the best possible sights and sounds at your once in a lifetime event. Our performances are based entirely on digital sound systems consisting of both cd and computer format. With this latest technology and backup equipment on site, you are guaranteed an unbelievable wedding reception, worry free.

Is Setting Up Your Equipment Part Of Our Scheduled Time?
NO. Setting up and tearing down are part of our devoted commitment to your event, it is not considered part of the scheduled contract time. We test and tune our equipment and microphones to perfection long before your first guests arrive, and we are usually the ones turning out the lights in the room at the end of the night.

Do You Take Breaks?
NO. Unlike a band, a good DJ shouldn’t take breaks. We will play straight through your entire event, producing a seamless celebration.

Do You Hang Any Banners Or Advertisements?
NO. We understand that this is your wedding, a private and elegant affair. Over 95% of our business comes from referrals, and we like to earn them from our performance, and not from an obtrusive advertisement hung at your wedding reception. We will hand out business cards when someone asks for them.
:: Back to Top ::

What Do You Wear?
WHAT ETIQUETTE DEMANDS. We will be representing you, and our attire will reflect that. For a formal affair, such as your wedding, a tuxedo is appropriate. If it is a semi-formal or casual affair, then a shirt and tie is appropriate, unless otherwise requested. Additionally, we do not eat or drink at your wedding reception.
:: Back to Top ::

Is Tipping/Gratuity Expected From The DJ?
NO. As with anyone who works in the service industry, tipping is considered customary, but by no means is it mandatory or expected. When the night is over, if we did what we said we would do for you, and possibly more, then a tip would be considered the ultimate compliment.
:: Back to Top ::

Can I Request A Specific DJ?
YES. If you have seen one of our recommended DJs perform, it is in our best interest to have them perform at your event. Our goal is to provide you with the DJ that you request; however, due to the nature of our business, we suggest that you have a second choice or allow us to match you with an ideal DJ, should the entertainer you chose fall ill or become unable to perform. That way, you are covered no matter what.
:: Back to Top ::

Do You Perform At Other Types Of Events Besides Weddings?
YES. We specialize in weddings, but we have different types of equipment and music, as well as the experience to perform other types of events. We quite often perform at proms, holiday parties, school dances, church functions and private affairs. We have many packages to choose from, and different experiences that we can bring to your event!
